Wie wir leben wollen - (How we want to live) is the title of Tocotronic's album released in 2013, in which the German band expresses an attitude towards life that is characterised by desires, fears, human paradoxes and eerily beautiful utopias. Based on the roller coaster of emotions designed by Tocotronic, which winds its way through bio-political landscapes on the 'path of twilight', we deal with our own constitution in the course 'Europeans'. How do we live? How do we experience the political and social upheavals that influence our lives and what is our part in them?
How do longings and utopias relate to isolation, precarity, illness?
Alain Badiou claims that we live in a social environment that is increasingly perceived as 'wordless'. What forms of expression and action are conceivable that can produce a culture of coexistence beyond or in the midst of the dictates of the economy along conflicting forces such as freedom and openness and isolation and withdrawal?
Along specific historical narratives that have shaped and continue to shape Europe, we explored these questions. Starting from art, we discussed the political spaces in which we move.
